Purpose of Position:

Directs all financial services, prepares and presents monthly financial statements, coordinates the preparation of budgets and projections, and other financial analysis. Supervises and assures that the Accounting Department is appropriately staffed (number and qualifications).
 

Responsibilities:

 
  1. Oversees and directs all financial functions and supervises the activities of accounting staff.  Establishes and monitors staff performance goals.
  2. Develops / maintains Fiscal Policies and Procedures and regularly strives to improve processes and procedures
  3. Prepares monthly financial statements for presentation to the Chief Financial Officer and to the Finance Committee.
  4. Ensures all sub ledgers are reconciled to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
  5. Monitors accounts receivable, net revenue and related statistics for any significant trends/changes and potential (Fee-for-Service and Medicare billing).
  6. Periodically reviews the charge structure for optimization and compliance with regulations (Medicare case weight and reimbursement rates).
  7. Identifies and analyzes opportunities for increasing patient cash flow and maximizing return on investment.
  8. Prepares with the CFO and senior management the annual capital and operating budgets. Monitors monthly budget variances and FTE variances.
  9. Identifies and analyzes opportunities for cost effective and reduction of expenses.
  10. Completes special internal audit projects as necessary.
  11. Coordinates the annual audit with the independent accounting firm.
  12. Prepares and / or reviews state and federal tax filings and Governmental reports.
  13. Coordinates the annual third party intermediary audits and reports.
  14. Coordinates the preparation of monthly and annual Cost Reports (VNSW and VNSW at Home).
  15. Completes statistical reports as required by the Department of State.
  16. Interacts with other Department Managers and/or Administrative staff for project completion.
  17. Protects assets by strictly adhering to standard accounting policies and procedures.
  18. Prepares timely and comprehensive employee evaluations.
  19. Enhances departmental use Financial Edge (Accounting System).
  20. Delegates tasks to the appropriate level.
  21. At any one time, may be required to coordinate several projects in addition to regular duties (will delegate project work to staff or outside consultants as applicable).
  22. Develops a cash-forecasting tool in collaboration with the CFO
  23. Performs other job related duties as directed/requested.

Qualifications:

 
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university; CPA and/or MBA a plus. 
  2. Minimum seven (7) years of experience as Accounting Department Manager or Director of Finance.
  3. Ability to Write / Implement Policies and Procedures
  4. Ability to meet the necessary time and schedule requirements as related to the position.
  5. Comprehensive healthcare experience.
  6. Innovative and motivated to continuously improve internal systems and Policies.
  7. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and have ability to quickly learn other computer programs as needed, including Financial Edge and all other agency EMR’s.
Salary Range:  $130,000 to $150,000
